NITTODO is a shop that offers Japanese tools that scrupulously support people’s everyday life with simple designs and good functionalities. With a collection of carefully selected items that represent favorable features of the Japan Technology, both new and old, ranging from traditional crafts to state-of-the-art technologies, we wish to make this shop a place to share the essence of “made in Japan” with many people in the world.
NITTODO is a two-story wooden house renovated from a traditional “machiya”-style residence. The first floor is the shop space displaying living tools and houseware, with a coffee stand “KYOTO COFFEE” on the same floor. The second floor is a multipurpose space where visitors, including tourists from home and abroad, can relax and interact with each other over cups of coffee, recalling or talking about what they have seen, heard and felt during their trip.
KYOTO COFFEE serves its original house blend coffee that offers soft bitterness and richness with a refreshing faint flavor like a herb or spice, blending five kinds of carefully selected coffee beans. The milk is a government-certified special-grade milk known as Special Milk from Clover Farm in Kyoto. The Special Milk certification is granted only to producers who run an integrated production process from cattle breeding & management to milk pumping and raw-milk processing and has passed strict inspections by a public health center and agricultural and national government authorities.
The parent company Nitto Denko Corporation operates its business in diverse industrial fields by providing products and services that add various functionalities to sheets and films, based on the company’s core technologies including the adhesion technology, coating technology and macromolecular function control technology. Originating from a project team in Nitto Denko to develop household products, Nitoms, Inc. was founded in 1975. Since then, Nitoms has been producing highly creative and innovative products, with an aim to deliver Nitto Group’s “Impressive Quality” to customers around the world. In the course of Nitoms’s advancement into the daily commodity and DIY markets by offering products applying the adhesion technology, an adhesive carpet cleaner COLOCOLO was born in 1983, which became a huge hit and thereby established market recognition for the Nitoms brand. To this day, under the company philosophy “We produce comfortable, convenient and creative products to contribute to people’s lives”, Nitoms has been engaged in development, manufacturing and sale of a diverse range of household products and medical & healthcare products that support people’s housing and daily lives.
